“McDonald's Corowa is honoured to be able to sponsor the 2013 event.
“We hope that the event attracts a huge number of competitors and crowd to watch this Australian iconic event”.
“Let the kid's know that they will be able to meet some of the famous McDonald's characters on the day so pencil the date into your diaries now”.
“The McDonald's Corowa store is not only sponsoring the event, we have started to build a billy cart to race in the event. The crew are counting down the days so they can race it in the 2013 championships.”
“Remember to drop into the Corowa store as the event gets closer and get a first hand glimpse at the McDonald's Corowa billy cart,” she said.
Corowa Shire Council Mayor, Fred Longmire is wrapped about the recent announcement.
“It's really great to have such an established brand recognize the importance of regional events and sponsor what has become a major tourism and community festival for Corowa Shire.”
“Corowa will come alive on Easter Saturday as the centre of racing action, festival celebrations and family entertainment for the McDonald's Corowa Australian Billy Cart Championships.”
“This annual family orientated event celebrates the earliest form of motor sports racing - billy cart racing. The event also provides the opportunity for entrants and spectators to develop their racing skills and enjoy fabulous entertainment all in the one location,” he said.
Competitors of all ages race down Sanger Street in their home-made or professionally created billy cart designs. Heats are held in four age classes, with the winners progressing to the quarter finals, semi finals and finally the championship race for each age class.
Additional racing categories include the Community and Emergency Services Challenge and the popular ‘All Schools Team Challenge' where all schools are encouraged to participate.
In addition to the racing action, the community is encouraged to come along and test their driving skills in the race car simulator. This exciting new feature is equipped with a racing chair, steering wheel and pedals. The simulator will provide a virtual motor sports driving experience for children and adults.
A range of family entertainment is also available at the event, including face painting, a jumping castle, miniature train, gorgeous cuddly animals from Old Kentucky Animal farm, market stalls, Show'n'Shine and much more.
Racing enthusiasts, young and old can admire the display of historic cars, speedway and racing utes. As part of the Show'n'Shine, people will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite historic vehicle in the “People's Choice” award.
