Residents and visitors are advised that the water in the Murray River within the Corowa Shire remains under a RED ALERT for blue-green algae.
- Neither Lake Mulwala nor the Murray River have been closed or banned for access.
- Small Warning signs have been placed near all boat ramps advising that there MAY be Traces of Blue Green Algae and that this MAY be Harmful to people or animals.
- Camping, boating and fishing can still be enjoyed along the Murray.
- If you catch fish, gut and clean as usual and then make certain that the fish are washed in clean water, not the river water.
- Avoid eating mussels or crays in case they may be affected.
- As of Friday 3rd April, the Murray river height @ Corowa was 2.05metres and rising, so wonderful for all the boating activities.
- If camping, make sure you take your own fresh drinking water as boiling the water does not inactivate algal toxins.
- Drinking the water is not advised.
- If you know you may have allergies, be careful and be prepared
