At the Corowa Howlong Mulwala Tourism Annual General Meeting on Monday 14th July, a new partnership structure was approved and executive committee appointed. Corowa Howlong Mulwala Tourism membership prospectus is currently being distributed to businesses in our region. "Membership fees are significantly important to the future viability of tourism and assists in enabling future growth of this important industry" said Mr Peter Hansen. Based on statistics, 16% of Corowa Shire businesses during 07-08 financial year were tourism members. Statistics show that there is approximately 600 businesses in Corowa Shire not including home based businesses. 85% of businesses in this region are home based businesses. Therefore, 600 businesses represents 15% of the total estimated businesses in Corowa Shire. Tourism in NSW is the largest industry and 2nd largest industry in Corowa Shire.
