Howlong Community & Resource Centre

The Howlong Community Resource Centre is a multi-purpose facility, providing information, facilities and services to residents and visitors including:

Outreach Library Services and Programs
• Access the Online Upper Murray Regional Library collection, where you can reserve and order books/materials to be later collected from the Resource Centre
• Renew and return library books
• Library programs such as children's story telling, early childhood reading and introduction to computers

Visiting Mobile Library Service
• The visiting Mobile Library will operate from the car park directly in front of the Centre. Hours are as follows:
Tuesdays & Fridays - 2pm to 5pm f/nightly 
Saturdays - 9.30am to 12 noon (alternate f/nights to Fridays)

Resident Information Centre
Central point for information regarding available services and programs in the local area
• Development Application lodgement
• Rates and Water payments
• Information and provision of Local Government Services
• Pet registration

Visitor Information Centre
• Information and guidance for visitors to the area
• Accommodation, bookings and referral service
• Display of tourism brochures
• Retail local souvenirs and merchandising products
• Display of local accommodation providers, attractions and events
• Maps and directions
• Ticket sales

Free Computer & Internet Access
• Utilise Microsoft Office Programs
• Print and photocopy research materials
• Access historical records – through online genealogy sites
• Free Internet access

Community Meeting Room
• Community meeting room for all hours access by the community
• Seating capacity at a table for eight

Training and Conference Room
• Can be utilised within Centre operating hours or under Council staff supervision outside of these hours
• Seats up to 16 at tables and provides an LCD TV for presentations or showing DVD's along with a whiteboard and eight Broadband Internet connections free of charge
• A laptop can be reserved to utilise for meetings and presentations
• Tea, coffee and chilled water facilities can be provided

Consultation Room
• The consultation room is a private office for visiting agencies and local community service or government providers to enable outreach services to be provided to the local area
• Access is provided to a broadband Internet connection, printing and photocopying facilities and staff amenities
• A laptop computer can be reserved for use if required
• The consultation room offers a comfortable desk and chairs and would be suitable for meetings with up to three visitors

Break-Out Room
• A small and informal room attached to both the Training and Conference Room and the Consultation room which offers additional space and a relaxed environment for 6 - 8 people
• Other use of this room may include children's story telling classes

Outdoor Community Meeting areas
• The gardens at the Community Resource Centre have been developed to encourage the community to utilise the Centre as a place to gather, or hold less formal meetings such Business networking events. Facilities include:
• An undercover area
• Access to power
• BBQ
• Four trestle tables and 30 outdoor chairs

Bathroom Facility
• A bathroom facility is provided which offers full disabled access and a baby change station and is for both male, female and parents use
• This facility is in a separate building to the rear of the main building and will be open during Centre hours or outside of normal hours in conjunction with the outdoor meeting room or use of outdoor areas (Reservation required)

Community Notice Board
• A Community Notice Board is located in the front of the Centre and is managed through the Centre. Appropriate Community related notices can be placed free of charge

Community Display Case
• The Centre houses a community display case which is available for community interest pieces, historical information and display materials, along with other appropriate community related items or articles of interest.

Centre Operating Hours
Sunday & Monday - Closed
Tuesday - 10am to 1pm
Wednesday - 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm
Thursday - 10am to 1pm
Friday - 10am to 1pm
Saturday - 9.00am to 11.30am
