ArtSpace Opening Night ArtSpace was officially opened on Friday March 16, 2012 by Corowa Shire Mayor Fred Longmire, Elizabeth Rogers (Regional Arts NSW) and Mary Summerfield past president Corowa Federation Arts Show committee. The event was led by Cr Fiona Schirmer (Chair, Murray Arts) and attracted over 100 people including local members of Parliament Sussan Ley and Greg Aplin.
Past winners and judges, Federation Arts Show committee members and volunteers were present to witness the launching of the inaugural exhibition "The Corowa Collection" and opening of the first community art gallery for Corowa Shire. ArtSpace Community Art Gallery is open to the public from Wed - Sun. 11-4 Wednesday - Friday 11-3 Saturday 11-1 Sunday The current exhibition is "The Corowa Collection" which showcases winning works from past Corowa Federation Arts Shows from the years 2000 to 2012. The Corowa Collection The Corowa Collection showcases the prize winners in all sections of the annual Federation Art Show that have been acquired by the Federation Art Show Committee and held in trust by Corowa Shire Council for the past thirteen years. This is the first time that these art works have been displayed together as a collection and for many of these works it is the first time they have been on public display.
The curator for the exhibition was Vanessa Keenan from Murray Arts. The exhibition will run from March 16 - May 25. Volunteers for ArtSpace Art Space is currently recruiting volunteers to work in the Community Art Gallery.
