Young People have opportunities to participate in many sporting, recreation and cultural activities via several groups, clubs and organisations within the Shire. A Youth Advisory Committee supported by the Council and the local High School actively engages young people 12-18 years old to identify issues and concerns and assist in the planning and development of youth services and facilities. In Corowa Unit Y provides a safe and welcoming place for young people to meet friends, take part in casual and organised activities or just hang out. The youth centre is located in 44 Queen Street (close to the main shopping centre) and is open from 4pm-6pm every Wednesday during school terms and other afternoons as required. Once per month at Unit Y social nights are held that involve movies on the big screen, guitar hero and/or sing star challenges.
These social nights are also held once per month in Howlong at the Community Resource Centre. Check out the Council's home page under What's on to find out dates and more details. Corowa also has a Skate Park and BMX track and Howlong has a BMX track that is popular with both locals and visitors.
